2015 Summer Reading List

Dear Students and Parents:

Summer is a great time to read, and it is also a wonderful time of year for students to read books for pleasure and to improve their skills.

During the summer months we strongly encourage our students to continue reading. Reading comprehension improves as students listen to and discuss the events and characters that they read about. They learn to predict what will happen, and they increase their vocabulary.

The attached suggested summer reading list for Camden Middle School supports the North Carolina Curriculum for English/Language Arts and Literacy. Remember, the attached lists are merely suggestions and examples of books for your child to read/listen to.

2015 Summer Reading List

Summer reading is meant to be enjoyable, and we do not want students to have to struggle; we want reading to be fun and relaxing. Your support in promoting literacy skills is extremely important. If your child reads a book(s) over the summer, he/she will be allowed to take AR tests for the First Nine Weeks when they return to school in August. Students can find AR book information by using the following website: http://www.arbookfind.com

We hope that you and your child have a wonderful time enjoying many great books this summer!

Happy Reading!
