ANNOUNCEMENT The Board of Education for Camden County is accepting applications to fill one vacancy on the Camden County School Board. Anyone interested, qualified, and eligible to serve on the Camden County Board of Education by temporary appointment is required to complete an online application located on our district website (https://www.ccsnc.org). To be a Qualified Candidate a person must: • Be at least 18 years of age; • Reside in and be a permanent resident of Camden County; and • Be otherwise eligible to hold elective office in North Carolina. Applicants must complete all required fields on the application. Information submitted in the application is public data and may be subject to release upon request. Adolescent Brain Development and the Role of Social Media On Wednesday October 16, the Poe Center will have a workshop talking about Adolescent Brain Development and the Role of Social Media at Camden County High School from 6pm to 8pm. Program Description: This program examines the impact of social media on emotional, social and physical health. Participants will explore how adolescent brains process information and make decisions and how that impacts their online experience. This session includes the latest research, examines the risk factors and identifies the protective factors to reduce negative aspects online. A discussion on strategies to increase those protective factors and to support empowering youth to make healthy decisions will be covered. Reminder the Blood Drive is Monday, Oct 14th from 12pm - 5pm at Camden Middle School. As autumn sets in, it's the perfect time to give blood and be a part of something bigger than yourself, helping those in need during a season of change. Treat yourself! The American Red Cross will host a Blood Drive on Monday, October 14th from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Camden Middle School. To make an appointment, please visit www.RedCrossBlood.org. Walk-ins are also welcomed. Please eat iron rich foods, drink plenty of non-caffeinated fluids, and get a good night's rest before donating blood. PHOTO ID REQUIRED. The need is constant. Camden County Schools will dismiss students tomorrow, Friday, September 27, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. due to potential flooding. All after school activities are also canceled for Friday, the 27th.

Due to road conditions and anticipated continued flooding in portions of our county, Camden County Schools will operate on a two hour delay tomorrow morning, Wednesday, September 18, 2024. There may be certain roads that buses cannot go down or that are unsafe for drivers after 10:00 am. In this case, student absences will be excused but please have a parent/guardian contact the school by 12:00 pm tomorrow to let them know.

We only have the fan shop open once per year. If you'd like to purchase items and show your support of our award winning CMS and CCHS bands, this is the only opportunity to get those shirts, hats, and other band logo items. We were recently made aware of a potential threat against schools with a Camden reference. We have been in communication with the Camden County Sheriff's Department, and at this time, we have no evidence that it is a credible threat, or even a reference to Camden County Schools in North Carolina. The safety of our students and staff is a priority of Camden County Schools. We are thankful for students and families who support our school system and inform us when they see or hear anything that could potentially impact schools. We encourage you to continue to be vigilant and to communicate any concerns.

2024 Summer Career Accelerator Camp are still open for registration! Middle School Baking begins June 24th, still a few seats available; High School Baking Camp July 8th and Middle School Interior Design the week of July 22nd with Mrs. Parrish! There is still room in our Career Accelerator Camps, hosted by Jennifer Barclift, multiple weeks still available.

You are invited to a meet and greet for CCS superintendent Dr. Brandon Ratliff on June 10, 2024 from 9:00am -11:00am at the Camden County Library Community Room.

The Middle School and High School bands cordially invite you to our annual Spring Concert events. Come out and share the evening with us. We only have a few of these events each year, and we'd love the opportunity to share them with you. I think you would be AMAZED at the level of musicianship and professionalism our ensembles create. The CCHS/CECHS Concert is this week on Thursday. The CMS Concert is held on Tuesday May 14. Both events are at COA beginning at 6:30. Both events are free and open to the public.

All students interested in being a member of the 2024 blue machine must attend a meeting with their parents in the CCHS cafeteria on Tuesday, March 27 @ 6:30 pm . The meeting is required for all new and returning members.
